Hardware description

The AIO-CM5-156 combines powerful hardware with an all-in-one form factor, making it ideal for demanding tasks and versatile applications—including use as a desktop computer and for software and hardware development. Powered by the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5 (CM5), it offers flexible performance with a quad-core Cortex-A76 CPU running at 2.4 GHz and up to 8 GB of SDRAM.

The 15.6″ IPS display supports full HD resolution (1920 × 1080) with a brightness of 350 cd/m², ensuring clarity in various lighting conditions. The touchscreen supports 10-point capacitive touch, enhancing interactivity for applications like Human-Machine Interface (HMI) and Industrial IoT (IIoT) projects.

Expandability is a key feature, with an M.2 2280 M-Key slot (PCIe 2.0 × 1, experimental PCIe 3.0 × 1) that supports the Hailo-8 AI module. This enables edge AI capabilities with up to 26 TOPS of performance, allowing real-time data processing and machine learning applications directly on the device. Additional USB 3.0 ports and a 40-pin Raspberry Pi GPIO connector provide access to a wide range of peripherals, making it suitable for hardware development and prototyping.

The CS-BBB-EXP50 is designed to connect directly to the BeagleBone Black via its expansion headers, ensuring straightforward physical and electrical integration. To prevent damage, users must follow the orientation markings on the silkscreen carefully, as incorrect installation can permanently harm both the BBB and the expansion board.
Once connected, the board draws power directly from the BeagleBone Black, eliminating the need for an external power adapter—though it’s essential to use a 5V adapter capable of supplying at least 1A to the BBB, as USB OTG power is insufficient.
The board includes a boot switch that allows users to toggle between booting from the microSD card or eMMC memory—an especially helpful feature since the BBB’s onboard boot button becomes inaccessible after installation. Additional features like EEPROM address configuration and expansion connectors help ensure full compatibility and flexibility with various BeagleBone Black-based setups.
