Hardware description
The CS-BBB-EXP50 features a 5.0-inch TFT LCD with a resolution of 800×480 pixels, available with either a capacitive or resistive touchscreen depending on the model. It includes multiple communication interfaces—two RS232 channels, one RS485 channel, and one CAN channel—making it well-suited for industrial integration. The board is powered directly from the BeagleBone Black via a 5V supply and has a low power consumption of just 2W. It offers a user interface with five programmable buttons, a reset button, a power button, and two LEDs—one for power indication and one user-configurable. A debug port is available via UART0, supporting both RS232 and TTL signal levels, selectable through onboard resistor configuration. Additionally, the board includes two expansion connectors compatible with unused BeagleBone Black pins and is designed to operate in temperatures ranging from -20°C to +70°C. With dimensions of 135 × 89 mm and weighing 250 grams, the CS-BBB-EXP50 provides a compact and versatile solution for embedded applications.

Integration with BeagleBone Black
The CS-BBB-EXP50 is designed to connect directly to the BeagleBone Black via its expansion headers, ensuring straightforward physical and electrical integration. To prevent damage, users must follow the orientation markings on the silkscreen carefully, as incorrect installation can permanently harm both the BBB and the expansion board.
Once connected, the board draws power directly from the BeagleBone Black, eliminating the need for an external power adapter—though it’s essential to use a 5V adapter capable of supplying at least 1A to the BBB, as USB OTG power is insufficient.
The board includes a boot switch that allows users to toggle between booting from the microSD card or eMMC memory—an especially helpful feature since the BBB’s onboard boot button becomes inaccessible after installation. Additional features like EEPROM address configuration and expansion connectors help ensure full compatibility and flexibility with various BeagleBone Black-based setups.
